Built case People v. M. Ellison is a built case. Every party, officer, timestamp, Bates number, and quantity is invented and matches no real person or matter. The patterns, the failure modes, and the checks are the ones that run on real files. The legal authorities are real, correctly stated, and re-runnable. No client data is ever shown, here or anywhere.
The arc

Thirteen stages. Each names the skill that produced it.

Every stage below is a pipeline or primitive running in the practice today. Every artifact is a file in the case folder.

The refusals

Every artifact refuses something.

At every stage the system records what it does not know, in the artifact itself. Gaps are named, confidence is tagged, assertions are narrowed to what the record supports, and work that needs a person is handed back unfinished.

Every refusal in the file, collected.

Each line is quoted from the artifact named beside it.

Properties

Four properties the file has.

Property one

Everything agrees.

Twenty-two documents state the same charge, the same count, the same 48.6 grams, the same 02:11:07, the same eight authorities. Drift is the normal case. A file written by different people on different days from different notes disagrees with itself somewhere, and nobody is careless for it.

Property two

The record is the source, never the last draft.

Every recital reconciles to the charging document and the discovery, never to the prior draft. A file reconciled to its own last version can be internally consistent and still wrong about the case. That is how a wrong enhancement survives four rounds of review.

Property three

The halt.

No motion language existed before an attorney greenlit the strategy. The greenlight artifact records what was decided, what was refused, and the instruction not to plead more than the record supports.

Property four

The gate blocked its own work.

Six automated reviewers read the motion with no memory of how it was written. One of them opened the Information the drafters never reopened. The gate failed the draft on its first pass and cleared it on the second, after the over-assertion was narrowed.

How the gate is built

Provenance

The patterns are from real matters. The case is not.

Ellison is a reconstruction, not an invention. The facts are fictional down to the timestamps and the Bates numbers, because real files are covered by protective orders and client confidentiality and do not go on a public page. The failure modes are not fictional. An enhancement scoped to the wrong counts, a recital reconciled to the last draft instead of the charging document, an assertion pleaded wider than the record supports: each one is in the file above because it happened on a real filing first, and each check that catches it exists because it was missed once.

The stages themselves run every week inside the Law Offices of Allison B. Margolin, PLC, where this system was built. The same thirteen run on a real matter. The first one is free, back in about a week, and yours either way.
