Who supervises the work?
Two layers, doing different jobs. Day to day, the quality is mine: I tailor the system to your practice, stay in communication throughout, and every deliverable passes the six-reviewer verification gate before it reaches your desk. Your firm’s attorney holds the legal judgment at both ends: strategy up front, and review at the end, where nothing goes out without them. I work as an extension of your firm, as California requires for paralegal work (Bus. & Prof. Code, § 6450). The service does not give legal advice; every recommendation is your attorney’s to adopt, reject, or rewrite.
What about confidentiality and privilege?
A signed confidentiality agreement comes before any file moves. Nothing is disclosed except as law compels. Your matter data is never used to train any model, and I am the only person who touches it. Privilege runs through your firm: the work is your attorney’s work product, done under your attorney’s direction.
What if the output is wrong?
Every deliverable is built to be reviewed, not trusted blind. A six-reviewer verification gate checks the work against the record, citations are verified live, and you are the last line.
We already use the AI in Lexis or Westlaw. What does this add?
Keep it. Protégé and CoCounsel are one general assistant, sold to every firm the same, and they help when you drive them. This is the other shape: a system engineered around your firm, running fixed checkable steps drilled on samples from filed work, with a halt for your attorney’s strategy call and six reviewers at the end. You send the file; finished, verified work comes back. The tools are not in competition. The hours are.
Will my staff have to learn new software?
No. This is a service, not a tool. Your staff keep working the way they work, and finished work product comes to them.
Why is the entry tier $1,500 and not more, or less?
It is sized against the market it replaces: freelance paralegal work in California is commonly quoted at $45 to $125 an hour, and a part-time hire carries loaded cost well past it. Cheaper would mean cutting the verification gate, and that is the part that protects you. The founding rate above is lower for the same plain reason: I am starting out, and pricing the first two firms accordingly.
